Decorating for Christmas 2011

We are super excited about Christmas this year. First and foremost because it is the day we celebrate the birth of our Saviour! So many years ago the most precious gift was given to the world and He is the whole reason we celebrate this exciting season.

Another reason we are excited is, this is the first Christmas in two years we actually get to be in our own home, with our own tree and all our own decorations. (December 9, 2009 the 101 ft white pine fell on our house and we moved December 30. November 27, 2010 we headed back to Potecasi, NC to find out we would be living in a rental house for the next few months due to black mold in the parsonage.) So this year we not only celebrate being back in TN but we celebrate having our own things to decorate with and share with others.

And the last reason is, we are back in TN. We have been blessed each year since we left for seminary to get to come home for a few days at Christmas. But we always had to leave.....not this year. This year we will wake up in our own beds, bolt to the living to see what Santa has left for the girls, sing Happy Birthday to Jesus, open presents, tell the Christmas story, enjoy a breakfast together just before getting ready for church, where we will CELEBRATE the birth of a risen King! After church we will spend some of the most precious time with family and friends. Then after all the presents are opened, all the food is eaten, the girls are worn out from all the excitement and we are breathing a sigh of relief because we get to drive 15 minutes home and end the most wonderful day of the month in our own beds.
