Olivia started school on Tuesday. She was super excited because she got the teacher she wanted (which happen to be the one we wanted her to have) and her teacher had requested her. (makes a momma proud when a teacher wants your child in their class) It was just half a day but she came home raving about all they did. They told us every little detail all the way down to when bathroom time was. She finished her first day with a green bear which is the best you can do. (It was very surreal to see her walk into a first grade class....)
Isabella started school today (Wednesday). She was very nervous. This is her 4 school in 3 years. So you can imagine where she might be a little apprehensive about going to another school. (We opted to move her to a private school here in Knoxville. The public school systems for middle school and high school here are not, are not what you would call ideal. And after having a teacher at a school while we lived in Potecasi that was determined to break her spirit, she became a follower instead of the strong leader she always was. A follower is not good in the public middle and high school system here. So we began researching private schools here, Christian and non christian. We were introduced to Freedom Christian Academy and were impressed from day one.) She started her day with prayer, pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible. She studies Bible everyday, has chapel every Thursday and has a Biblical influence around her all day. In her class they have Bible (where they study either a book of the Bible or a theme from the Bible.) Her teacher, Miss Whittle, prayed about it and chose, changing your heart. She explained to the children that their hearts should be pure and full of God's word. She also read them scriptures to go with it. What a blessing this was to my ears. Her teacher had been lead to chose such a meaningful theme to study this year. And as Isabella is beginning to become a young lady we deal with issues of the heart all the time. Again, what a blessing God has placed Isabella in Freedom, with Miss Whittle and is already working on her heart! Her exact words to me today were, "Mom, we started the day with prayer. Prayer Mom, it made my day so much better. I really think if I hadn't been able to pray for my day before it started it would not have gone well." This was a phrase that melted this Moms heart.
I know that God is always in control. Sometimes I try to help him steer but all I do is mess the course. I need to take my hands off the steering wheel and let him lead me, my husband and my children.
