Izzy's first week of 2nd grade

Her first week of second grade is done and she rocked it out. She had green cards all week long! She would get in the van everyday and tell me that during the day she hadn't made a good choice and she had to flip her card to yellow. But she pulled herself back on track and continued to make good choices for the rest of the day so she would get to flip her card back to green and finish the day out on green. This is a huge accomplishment, it has shown us that she can pull herself back together even after a choice that wasn't good. And as her parents we were SO proud of her. She seems to really like her teacher (Ms. Whitehouse) and is excited about learning. Ms. Whitehouse (this is her first year at Thales so we don't know too much about her) seems to be kind and caring but also runs a tight ship. (which Isabella needs. She thrives on structure and praise and she is getting both of those.)

We were also very pleased today when we got her assessment testing back. She has tested high enough to be placed in grade 3 classes for Math, Reading and Language Arts. This does not mean they will move her to 3rd grade but it does mean she will be doing 3rd grade level work in these classes. Please pray for her as she starts her work in these classes on Monday, that she will be steadfast in her work at school and her homework in the evenings.

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this about Thales and direct instruction....that they allow children to work on material that is challenging and appropriate, instead of making them sit through material that they have already mastered! Hooray for Izzy!!
